'Additional incentives' for Emiratization support in UAE

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai has announced the launch of a new drive to boost the Emirati workforce in the private sector, providing additional incentives for companies supporting Emiratization. The UAE aims for to have 75,000 Emirati private-sector workers by 2026. “The citizen is the compass of the government, and the role of the government is to establish an effective balance between our rapid economic growth and the provision of a better and more generous life for our citizens.” Sheikh Mohammed wrote on Twitter. UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan also said that “the UAE is launching a dedicated plan to boost the employment of UAE Nationals in the private sector, which will play a vital role in our nation’s long-term development,” via Twitter. The Emiratization aims to overcome the structural division in the labor market and increase the number of Emiratis in the job market and their contribution to the economy. The UAE government set out plans to ensure that 10 percent of the private-sector workforce were Emiratis in the next five years. Some of the initiatives launched by the UAE to increase the workforce include paid training programs, subsidies for Emiratis working in the private sector, and support for local entrepreneurs looking to leave the public sector and start-up their own companies.
