ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon reveals new race route, preparations

ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon organizers announced various exciting upgrades for the upcoming race. A revamped, city-wide marathon route that passes through the capital's most notable landmarks and an expanded race village with many of Abu Dhabi's top sporting clubs, platforms, events, and initiatives are just a few of the improvements. These changes came after the community engagement survey commissioned earlier this year, wherein previous participants and members of the UAE community provided their thoughts and feedback. Aref Hamad Al Awani, general secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said during the ceremony that the changes would ensure participants have the best race day. "The ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon is already a very successful and much-loved event on the UAE sports calendar. After consulting our community through an extensive participant outreach survey, we have listened to and acted on their feedback. ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon has always been an event for the community, by the community, and we look forward to hosting an even bigger and better event this year". The founding Title Sponsor has continued to work closely with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council to improve the event, and this year's marathon will once again be hosted at ADNOC Headquarters. At the launch, representatives of the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) and the Abu Dhabi Police emphasized the coordination and cooperation of numerous government organizations to support this world-class event while ensuring minimal disruption to the Abu Dhabi community. The marathon event includes a 42 km full-marathon course; a marathon relay - in which two participants each run 21 km – a 10 km course; plus 5 km and 2.5 km family fun runs. Scheduled on Saturday, 17th December 2022, this year's marathon will provide participants more time to prepare and train in cooler temperatures. The recently announced community race series also provides an opportunity for new and aspiring runners to experience a race environment, experiment with different distances, and enhance their technique and endurance ahead of the marathon. The ADNOC official website now accepts registrations for the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon 2022. BKM/ Expat Media
