Bicycle theft gang jailed in Dubai, fined Dh6,000
Three Africans behind a spate of bicycle thefts in Dubai have been jailed in Dubai and fined Dh6,000. The court sentenced the trio to one month in jail followed by deportation. There were no further details on the identities or nationality of the trio. The gang members were arrested after they stole two bicycles worth Dh6,000 from a European resident in Dubai. They took the bicycles from the basement parking lot of the victim’s home. The victim reported the incident to police, and a team of investigators were formed to track and arrest the suspects. Police found several stolen bicycles and e-scooters in their possession. During interrogation, two of the gang members admitted to stealing the bicycles, and the third admitted to buying them for Dh400 and selling them for Dh600 despite knowing they were stolen.
