  DUBAI – Pakistani expatriate Hafiz Ahmad didn't expect to be given Dh50,000 extra when he encashed a cheque at a bank in Dubai's Al Warqa area. The 55-year-old who works as a public relations officer for an automobile company in the emirate had just stepped out of the bank after doing a transaction and couldn't believe what he saw. He counted all the money and it added up to Dh160,000. "A bit confused", he called his manager to verify the amount to be encashed. The manager confirmed it was only Dh110,000. Realising that the teller had made a mistake, he went back to the bank immediately to return the excess cash. The female teller confirmed her mistake and was extremely thankful that Ahmad returned the extra amount "as she could have been in trouble if the error had gone unresolved". Ahmad said returning the money was the right thing to do.
