Ever wondered how Dubai Metro tracks stay clean and safe for millions of passengers? The secret is a smart AI-powered robot that inspects rail lines without interrupting services. The system, called the Automated Railway Infrastructure Inspection System (ARIIS), was introduced by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). Instead of relying only on human workers to check tracks, RTA uses the AI robot powered by sensors, lasers, and 3D cameras to scan tracks during the night. It quickly detects cracks, wear and tear, or anything that could cause problems. Since its rollout, ARIIS has made inspections 75 percent faster, saving nearly 1,700 work hours, and cutting traditional inspection operations by 70 percent. This not only improves safety but also saves maintenance costs by up to 25 percent. The RTA said the new technology “makes inspections faster, more accurate, and reduces the need to delay or suspend metro services.” Officials also revealed they are studying the possibility of using similar technology for Dubai Tram and other transport systems. ICA/Expat Media
