Ain Dubai observation wheel now closer to completion

  DUBAI – Ain Dubai, the world’s tallest observation wheel, is now one step closer to completion after the recent installation of its first passenger pod. The observation wheel will feature a total of 48 pods that can accommodate 40 people. The remaining pods are expected to be gradually installed. "Ain Dubai is shaping up well and has successfully installed its first capsule on to the wheel this weekend," a representative told the media. Ain Dubai was expected to be completed later this year in time for Expo 2020, however, the event has been moved to 2021 due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. It is not clear whether Ain Dubai’s completion will go on as scheduled. “While we are extremely excited to bring Ain Dubai into full swing and welcome our very first passengers, we can only announce the completion date in due course," the representative said. When complete, Ain Dubai will tower 250 metres above Bluewaters Island and will offer a panoramic view of the Dubai skyline. It will be 80 metres taller than the 167 High Roller Ferris wheel in Las Vegas, which currently holds the record for world’s tallest Ferris wheel. ICA/Expat Media
