Ajman factory fire: Missing Pakistani worker feared dead

A Pakistani worker who was reported missing after a fire erupted at a factory in Ajman is feared dead, according to the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai. The missing person was identified as Akbar (full name withheld) from Punjab in Pakistan. “Forensic analysis and DNA tests are currently underway on a burnt human body recovered from the site of the incident, feared to be that of Mr. Akbar,” according to the consulate. A huge fire erupted at a chemical factory in Ajman on the evening of February 24, injuring nine Pakistani workers. The injured are currently receiving treatment for serious burns at various hospitals in the UAE. At least two of the injured remain on ventilator support in the intensive care unit. “We are duty-bound to ensure all possible assistance to the victims of the ill-fated incident,” said Pakistani Consul General Hussain Muhammad.
