A diesel fuel tank exploded in Ajman on Sunday (June 4), killing two people and injuring three others, according to Ajman Police. Police said the victims were all Asians. No further details about their identities were revealed. The explosion happened in the Al Jurf Industrial area, said Major General Sheikh Sultan Bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ajman Police. “The operations room received a report at 11am on Sunday stating that an explosion had occurred in a (diesel) tank in one of the processing unit of the Fuel Trading Company in Al Jurf Industrial,” Al Nuaimi said. He said that according to initial investigation, the explosion was caused by welding work done by two workers above one of the tanks. Sparks from the welding landed on the fuel inside the tank, which caused the explosion in the factory area, the police official said. Ajman Police said that the company did not comply with security and safety requirements and did not have necessary licences from the Civil Defence. ICA/Expat Media
