The Ajman Government has a new law to combat the growing issue of abandoned vehicles, aiming to enhance public health, safety, and the emirate's aesthetic appeal. Under the law, the Municipality and Planning Department is empowered to identify, impound, and process unattended vehicles left in public spaces for extended periods. The law defines an “abandoned vehicle” as one left neglected in public for seven days, posing threats to public safety or violating environmental standards. Officials will tag such vehicles, notifying owners to reclaim them. Vehicle owners are given a 30-day grace period to respond after notification, either by retrieving their vehicles or settling claims. If no action is taken, vehicles are included in a public auction. The law also allows owners to reclaim their vehicles before the auction concludes, provided all associated fines and fees are paid. Authorities will monitor compliance through stricter inspections. The funds generated from auctions will be directed toward public projects and enhancing city infrastructure.
