Government employees in Ajman will shift to a 100 percent remote work setup every Friday, starting July 1, under a new initiative aimed at improving work-life balance and supporting environmental sustainability. The “Our Balanced Summer” initiative was approved by the Ajman Executive Council during a meeting presided over by Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Council. The initiative includes reduced working hours from 7:30am to 2:30pm, Monday to Thursday, and will be in effect until August 22. “The ‘Our Balanced Summer’ initiative also reflects our commitment to environmental sustainability by reducing daily transportation emissions, in support of Ajman Vision 2030,” Sheikh Ammar said. The move is part of broader efforts to enhance employee well-being, productivity, and operational efficiency during the hot summer months, while maintaining high standards of public service delivery. Sheikh Ammar emphasized that the initiative aligns with the emirate’s long-term vision for a resilient and inclusive society. “The stability of employees and their families is a cornerstone of the emirate’s development journey,” he said. “Human well-being is a central priority, essential for institutional excellence and the advancement of government performance.” The Human Resources Department and the General Secretariat of the Executive Council will oversee implementation and assess its impact by September. During the same meeting, the Council reviewed results from a recent official visit to Chongqing, China, and outlined plans to deepen cooperation with Chinese entities, focusing on attracting investments in AI, smart tech, and logistics. It also launched the “Ajman Learns” project under Ajman Vision 2030, aimed at promoting lifelong learning, and proposed the accreditation of technical and vocational training institutes to align with labor market needs.
