Authorities are now working to restore power to a high-rise apartment building that caught fire in Ajman and allow 256 displaced residents to return to their apartments, a police official said. Lieutenant Colonel Ghaith Khalifa Al Kaabi, Director of Al Madinah Comprehensive Police Station at Ajman Police, said Ajman Police is working with Ajman Civil Defence on the matter. He added that the 256 people displaced in the fire are currently being accommodated in in hotels in Ajman and Sharjah. On Monday night, a massive fire broke out in tower two of the Ajman One Towers complex. Footage circulating on social media showed flames engulfing the building from the ground floor to the top, with debris seen falling to the street below. There were no reports of deaths or injuries. However, the latest report from Ajman Police revealed that the fire damaged 64 apartments and 10 vehicles. Lt. Col. Al Kaabi said that the vehicles were damaged due to falling debris from the fire. At least on car was completely destroyed, he said. The police official said that investigations are under way to find out the cause of the fire. This was the second time that a fire hit the residential complex. In 2016, the Ajman One Towers caught fire when a blaze erupted from tower eight before spreading to tower six. ICA/Expat Media
