An Al Ain court has ordered a bank to pay a customer Dh100,000 in compensation after finding that the bank deducted excess loan payments without justification. The Al Ain Court for Civil, Commercial and Administrative Cases found that the bank received sums “in excess of its entitlement” from a client who took a Dh250,000 personal loan. Despite his consistent repayments, the bank allegedly continued making unjust deductions. The client filed a lawsuit requesting compensation and the appointment of a banking expert to verify his claims. The court accepted the expert’s report, which confirmed the overpayment and lack of justification. The bank was ordered to reimburse the customer Dh100,000 as of the lawsuit’s filing date, in addition to legal fees. ICA/Expat Media
