The Al Ain Book Festival 2024, themed “All Eyes on Al Ain,” is underway at Al Ain Square – Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium. Organized by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) under the patronage of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the festival runs until November 23. Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of ALC, described the festival as a tribute to Al Ain’s cultural significance. “The festival highlights Al Ain’s role as a hub for education and literature, showcasing its deep ties to Emirati heritage,” he said. This year’s edition boasts over 200 events and activities across six venues, including Al Jahili Fort and the UAE University. Visitors can engage with cultural exhibitions, workshops, and performances while exploring 100,000 titles from 200 exhibitors. The festival’s “Poetry Nights: The Sung Poetry” program celebrates the UAE’s folk poetic heritage with tributes to late poets, insights into the evolution of poetry documentation, and recreations of traditional poetry gatherings. Among its highlights is the tribute to Sheikh Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan for his literary contributions. The program underscores the UAE’s commitment to preserving and promoting its cultural identity. ICA/Expat Media
