An Al Ain court has ruled in favor of a customer who sued a transaction processing office for failing to complete the renewal of his family’s golden visas after receiving a payment of Dh19,248. The court ordered the office to refund the full amount and pay an additional fine of Dh1,000. The plaintiff, whose name was not disclosed, transferred Dh19,248 to the office to handle visa renewals for his wife and three children, covering visa cancellations, new visa issuance, and health insurance. However, the office failed to complete the process and did not refund the amount. In court, the customer presented bank transfer receipts as evidence. During cross-examination, he claimed that the office initially agreed to transfer the case to another agency, but he was later informed that the total expenses had exceeded Dh20,000. The court instructed the office’s representative to take a decisive oath confirming that the amount was used for the agreed procedures. However, the representative failed to appear for the oath, raising suspicions of wrongdoing. Citing the office’s failure to provide evidence of completing the agreed services or refunding the money, the court ordered them to refund Dh19,248 to the plaintiff, pay an additional fine of Dh1,000 as well as cover all legal fees and expenses.
