A man who deliberately rammed a woman’s car in Al Ain has been ordered by the Al Ain Civil, Commercial and Administrative Cases Court to pay more than Dh20,000 in compensation. The court ruled that the defendant must pay Dh10,800 for vehicle repairs, along with Dh10,000 in moral damages, after he was found guilty in a criminal case of intentionally damaging her vehicle. According to court records, the woman filed a civil lawsuit seeking Dh50,000 in compensation for material and moral damages, as well as legal fees and court costs. She said the accused had deliberately collided with her car, causing significant damage and leaving her without transportation. As a result, her vehicle was out of service and she had to rely on taxis to commute to work. She also submitted three repair estimates, with the highest reaching Dh14,000. The court found that the defendant was at fault and that his actions directly caused financial and emotional harm to the plaintiff. In its ruling, the court said it had the discretion to assess appropriate compensation based on the evidence presented. It decided that Dh10,800 — the middle value among the three repair estimates — was a fair amount to cover the cost of repairing the vehicle. The court also ruled that the defendant’s actions caused moral harm, including psychological distress and inconvenience due to the woman’s inability to use her car.
