A UAE court has ordered a driver to pay Dh70,000 in compensation after causing a traffic accident that left a woman with a permanent disability. The decision was made by the Al Ain Court of First Instance after a thorough review of medical reports and forensic evidence. According to court documents, the woman had initially filed a lawsuit requesting Dh51,000 in compensation for temporary damages, reserving the right to increase her claim based on the findings of a forensic report. The plaintiff sustained injuries that resulted in stiffness in the fingers of her left hand and ongoing pain from fractures caused by the accident. A specialized forensic pathologist evaluated the plaintiff's injuries and confirmed that the resulting stiffness and pain constituted a 25 percent functional disability in her upper left limb. After reviewing the evidence, the court determined that Dh70,000 was an appropriate amount of compensation for both the physical and emotional suffering the plaintiff endured. The court also ruled that the defendant is responsible for covering all legal fees, including court and lawyer expenses, ensuring that the victim receives full compensation for the harm she suffered.
