Al Ain electrician who sued company for Dh40,000 over eye injury loses case
An electrician in Al Ain who sued a company for Dh40,000 over an eye injury has lost his case at the Al Ain Court of First Instance. The court rejected the electrician’s demand for compensation, saying he did not have sufficient evidence to prove that the eye injury was caused by his work at the company. The worker had filed the lawsuit to seek compensation for material and moral damages, claiming he suffered serious injury to his right eye that caused him partial loss of vision that needed surgery. The judge referred the case for interrogation so that the worker can submit evidence proving that the injury was a result of the company’s failure to adhere to workplace safety measures. During interrogation, the worker said he did not have witnesses to prove his claim. He was able to submit a medical report copy, but it could not prove that the injury was caused by his work. Based on the evidence presented, the court rejected the case and ordered the worker to pay the legal fees incurred by the company.
