More than two million bottles of cold water, juices, and frozen treats will be distributed to outdoor workers in Dubai this summer as part of the ongoing “Al Freej Fridge” humanitarian campaign. Organized by Ferjan Dubai and supported by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), Suqia UAE, and the UAE Food Bank, the campaign aims to reach thousands of construction workers, delivery drivers, cleaners, and road maintenance crews operating under extreme summer heat. The initiative, now in its second year, runs until August 23 and involves mobile refrigerated trucks that distribute refreshments across various Dubai districts, as well as fixed fridges in worker accommodations stocked daily with cold drinks and frozen items. Ibrahim Al Balooshi, Director of Sustainability and Partnerships at MBRGI, said: “The ‘Al Freej Fridge’ campaign reflects the essence of our mission at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, which places people at the heart of its priorities.” Alia Al Shamlan, Director of Ferjan Dubai, added: “Our goal is to help ease the impact of extreme heat during the summer and ensure their wellbeing as they carry out essential tasks across the emirate.” The UAE Food Bank provides storage and distribution support, including refrigerated vehicles, while Suqia UAE supplies large quantities of bottled water. Volunteers from various segments of society have also joined the cause—some even using their personal vehicles to deliver drinks—reinforcing the campaign’s community-driven spirit. The campaign not only supports worker welfare but also promotes values of solidarity, compassion, and civic engagement in Dubai.
