Sharjah’s Al Noor Island has once again solidified its position as one of the Middle East's premier destinations, receiving the prestigious “Best of the Best” title for 2024 from TripAdvisor. This marks the second consecutive year the destination has claimed this honor, which is reserved for the top 1 percent of attractions worldwide on the popular travel platform. Developed and managed by the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Al Noor Island is known for its unique blend of nature, art, and entertainment. In addition to Al Noor Island, other Sharjah attractions also received accolades. The Mleiha Archaeological Centre, which showcases the region’s significant natural and archaeological heritage, has won the TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice Award for the seventh consecutive year. Meanwhile, the iconic Al Montazah Parks, famous for its exhilarating water rides, also received the Traveler’s Choice Award for 2024. Mahmoud Rashid Deemas, Director of Operations and Tourism Development at Shurooq, expressed pride in the recognition received by these destinations. “The positive feedback from travelers across the globe is a testament to the high-quality experiences we provide. This motivates us to continue improving and delivering exceptional services,” he said. Al Noor Island, situated on Khaled Lagoon, offers visitors an immersive experience with its tropical biosphere, floating butterflies, and various art installations, including the globally renowned OVO structure. The island is a haven for families, providing not only scenic beauty but also attractions such as a children’s playground and a 3.5-km boardwalk frequented by joggers. By night, the island transforms into a spectacle of light and sound, drawing visitors who enjoy its regular illuminated displays. Al Noor Island also plays host to the International Storytelling Festival, a celebration of fables and myths told in Arabic and English, making it a cultural hotspot for both locals and tourists. For those planning a visit, Al Noor Island is accessible via a pedestrian bridge from the Al Noor Mosque on Khalid Lagoon.
