The rainy Al Wasmi season in the UAE will start in mid-October until December 6. It is a much-loved time in the Arab calendar, marked by pleasant temperatures. Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society and member of the Arab Union for Space Sciences and Astronomy, explained that Al Wasmi follows the Safri season and begins with the rise of the star Suhail, marking the arrival of autumn and the end of intense heat. During this season, daytime temperatures turn milder, and nights feel cooler, especially in the early mornings. As the season continues, both daytime and nighttime temperatures gradually drop. Al Wasmi ends on December 6, marking the start of the winter season. The rains during Al Wasmi are good for the land because they refill groundwater due to low evaporation. Clouds often gather from the north before Al Wasmi starts, and any rain before the season, called "preceding the Wasm," usually happens within ten days of its start. The season is also great for agriculture, as the mild temperatures provide perfect conditions for plants to grow.
