Arab to be deported from Dubai for stealing bag in JBR beach

An Arab man has been jailed and will be deported from Dubai for stealing the bag of another Arab man in the JBR beach. The Dubai Court of Misdemeanour sentenced the Arab man to three months in jail, followed by deportation for stealing the bag containing the man’s passport, mobile phone and personal items. The incident happened on October 2022 while the victim was swimming off the JBR beach. When he returned to the beach after his swim, he found his bag missing. He reported the incident to the police, who launched an investigation into the matter. Surveillance camera footage helped police track down and arrest the suspect. During interrogation, the Arab man confessed to stealing the bag, and said he sold the mobile phone for Dh250 to a compatriot and dumped the bag and other items in the garbage bin. ICA/Expat Media
