Arab Parliament warns of terrorist Houthi escalation against UAE, Saudi Arabia

  DUBAI - The Arab Parliament warned against the dangerous escalation carried out by Yemen’s Houthi militants against the UAE and Saudi Arabia. In a statement, the Arab Parliament stressed that this escalation not only threatens the security and stability of these two countries, but also peace and security in the region. The Arab Parliament’s statement comes after Houthi rebels aimed two ballistic missiles at the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi on Monday, which the UAE Ministry of Defence shot down. The Arab Parliament strongly condemned the terrorist attack, as well as the brutal attack of the Houthis on Saudi Arabia’s Jazan industrial area, which was hit by a ballistic missile that left two civilians injured. The parliament expressed its full solidarity with the UAE and Saudi Arabia “in any measures they take to maintain their security and the safety of their citizens and residents”. It said that it will cooperate with the two countries against any threat to their security and stability. The parliament also called for the listing of the Houthi group as a terrorist organization. Meanwhile, the UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) said that the emirates reserves the right to respond against these terrorist attacks. The ministry described these attacks as "a heinous crime committed by the terrorist Houthi militia in breach of international and humanitarian laws". "The security of the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is indivisible, and any threat facing the Kingdom is considered a threat to the UAE's security and stability," the ministry noted. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and Kuwait have joined the UAE in condemning the terrorist Houthi militia's repeated attacks on civilians. They called on the international community and the UN Security Council to take action against terrorist acts. The General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation also strongly condemned and denounced the attacks launched by the terrorist Houthi militia.
