Dubai steps closer to Artificial Intelligence with launch of development roadmap

  DUBAI - As Dubai and the rest of the world move towards artificial intelligence (AI), the question on people's minds remain: will our jobs one day be taken over by smart computers? "The more we mention artificial intelligence, the more it comes to our minds such challenges as how machines will do human jobs," said Wesam Lootah, CEO of Smart Dubai Government Establishment. But AI is not something to be afraid of, Lootah said. "We in Dubai, however, believe that this involves a golden opportunity for a better and happier future," he said. Lootah was speaking at a recent workshop hosted by Smart Dubai Government Establishment to raise awareness on Dubai's artificial intelligence service, "Saad", and outline a development roadmap for artificial intelligence in Dubai. Dubai has launched the AI Lab to support the implementation of Dubai's AI Roadmap and help accelerate the development of AI services across Dubai. "The AI Lab is launched as a platform to achieve this goal in partnership with the government entities and educational institutions, enabling the mechanisms of work of all of us to be compatible with what the future can hold," Lootah said. Smart Dubai will soon announce its plans around the launch of a-first-of-its-kind "Dubai artificial intelligence Roadmap" to help Dubai's transformation into a smart city.
