Auction organizer jailed for embezzling Dh1.1m from watches

The Dubai Misdemeanors Court sentenced an auction organizer to 6 months in jail and fined him Dhs1,115,000 after he embezzled the sales of 3 precious watches from a GCC man. The case's details date back to January 2022, when a GCC citizen reported that he had been cheated and had Dhs1,115,000 worth of valuable watches stolen from him. During the interrogation, he communicated with a person who specialized in selling valuables through his account on a social networking site to help him sell three precious watches in an auction he organized through his website. The complainant added that he agreed with the suspect to sell the watches within 15 days. After the agreed time, he contacted the organizer to claim the value of the watches. However, the organizer began to evade returning the watches or their value, so the complainant submitted a report to the police. Investigations showed that the suspect worked legally in organizing auctions and that he received three watches from the complainant and sold them in an auction he managed.
