The Umm Al Quwain Police Department has announced a 50% discount on traffic charges. The discount is valid from December 1, 2022, until January 6, 2023. A top police official highlighted some of the prohibited offenses: – Damaging public or private property – Jumping the red light – Crossing the speed limit by over 80kph – Modifying a vehicle's engine or chassis without authorization – Endangering the lives of others According to the officer, the discount is part of the police department's attempts to encourage happiness across the emirate in the run-up to National Day celebrations. This month, Umm Al Quwain is the second emirate to announce a reduction in driving fines. Previously, the Ajman Police Department announced a 50% penalty reduction from November 21, 2022, to January 6, 2023. The reduction applies to any traffic offenses committed before November 11, according to Maj-Gen Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ajman Police. BKM/ Expat Media
