Authorities are continuing a major crackdown on illegal massage centers operating in Dubai’s International City, shutting down dozens of unlicensed establishments found violating public decency laws. The operation aims to combat unauthorized massage parlors that often operate as fronts for illicit activities. “In the past, they were able to reopen after a few weeks. Now, they’ve been told they cannot reopen,” a source told Expat Media. Several massage centers in the Morocco Cluster were among those that vacated their premises last in recent weeks. Their signage was also removed, signaling the city’s stricter enforcement of laws. Dubai Police have long warned the public about the dangers of visiting unlicensed massage centers, stating that they pose risks of theft, blackmail, or even violent crimes. “Going to unlicensed massage centers is punishable by law. People run the risk of being robbed, blackmailed, and sometimes murdered,” Major General Jamal Al Jallaf of Dubai Police emphasized in a previous interview. Authorities have also intensified efforts to curb the distribution of illegal massage cards, which often feature explicit images and are scattered on streets and vehicle windshields. “We are cracking down on these centers and taking action. Those distributing the business cards will also be arrested because they promote unlicensed massage centers and violate public decency laws,” Al Jallaf added. On February 22, Dubai Police announced the closure of four printing presses found producing these illicit advertisements. Several individuals connected to the operations were arrested, and authorities warned that anyone involved could face legal consequences. “People might think they’re simply contacting a massage service, but in reality, they could be exposing themselves to dangerous situations,” police officials cautioned. To combat these illegal activities, the General Department of Criminal Investigation has deployed a specialized task force to monitor and respond to reports. Dubai residents have been urged to report violations through the toll-free number 901 or the "Police Eye" service on the Dubai Police app. Authorities have reiterated that strict penalties will be imposed on anyone involved in the illegal massage industry, from operators to advertisers and customers.
