A journey into the unknown

From the moment the Expat Media team stepped into AYA Universe, it was clear this wasn't just another theme park—it was a portal to a new dimension. As we were handed our “passports,” complete with a set of stickers to mark each unique zone visited, excitement bubbled over. Our adventure began in "The Source," a mesmerizing room where an interactive floral show dances around a touch-reactive dome. A gentle swipe of the hand and suddenly, the dome blossoms into a kaleidoscope of colors. But that’s just the beginning. As we moved through the 12 immersive rooms, each one seemed to push the boundaries of reality a bit further. "The Falls" was an absolute showstopper, featuring a waterfall that flows upwards. Yes, you read that right—a reverse waterfall! Talk about defying gravity. Next, we found ourselves standing on the edge of "The Pool," a circular projection on the floor that mimics a deep vortex. It’s as if the floor beneath you is disappearing into infinity, and it takes a moment to convince your mind that it’s all an illusion. We then strolled through "Flora," a garden where the grass illuminates as you walk, almost as if it’s alive and responding to your every step. A sentient garden? Now that’s something you don’t see every day.

High-tech magic meets imagination

AYA Universe is more than just eye candy. It’s a masterclass in how technology can enhance and elevate our experiences. Founded in 2022 by Hyperspace, AYA Universe is an innovative indoor park that uses cutting-edge technology to create a series of fantastical, immersive experiences. It’s no wonder it snagged the title of the region's Best New Leisure and Entertainment Concept in 2023. Upon entering, guests receive a passport that includes a full map of AYA Universe, along with descriptions of each space. This handy guide ensures no one gets lost in the wonderland of sights and sounds, making it perfect for families, friends, and solo explorers alike. One of the most popular spots is "Celestia," where the cosmic themes continue with the Star Pool—the largest ball pit in Dubai. Imagine floating in a sea of soft, colorful balls while a 360-degree Cosmos show swirls around you. Every room in AYA Universe has been meticulously designed to offer a unique experience. The "Luna," "Harmonia," and "Tides" zones are mirrored rooms that play with light and reflections to create mind-bending visual effects. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a kaleidoscope, with your every move mirrored infinitely in all directions. Perfect for those looking to capture some seriously cool photos! And if you need a moment to relax, head to "Drift," where you can lay back and watch an interactive underwater show projected on the ceiling. It’s the perfect way to wind down after an adventure-filled day. Each room is designed to create a highly sensory, out-of-body experience, which AYA Universe co-founder, Sam Heller, describes as akin to "standing on the beach with the waves crashing to the side of cliffs or standing on top of a mountain covered in snow." The experience is both calming and exhilarating, a fine balance that the creators of AYA Universe have masterfully achieved. The vibrant choreography of lights, sounds, and interactive elements transforms each space into a live, responsive environment. Shows within each zone last up to seven minutes, offering ample time to soak in the atmosphere before moving to the next adventure. The staff, dressed in cream-colored robes that give them an otherworldly appearance, are more than just guides—they are part of the experience. They gently usher you from one room to another, adding to the seamless flow of the journey. As we wandered through the 40,000-square-foot expanse of AYA Universe, we couldn't help but feel like we were explorers in a digital fantasy land, discovering new worlds at every turn.
