Bangladeshi is new millionaire, 2 Filipinos win Dh10,000 in Al Ansari Exchange draw

DUBAI – They didn’t win the grand prize of Dh1 million but two Filipino expatriates were still Dh10,000 richer after winning cash prizes in the Al Ansari Exchange draw on Tuesday (August 27). Neil Rey Aligan and Juvy Acain Villanueva were among nine finalists in the summer draw held in Dubai. The Dh1 million prize went to Bangladeshi expat Abdullah Al Arafat Mohsin. When asked about what he would do with his prize money, Aligan admitted that he had not given it a hard thought, although  he vowed to “plan it right”. Villanueva, for her part, said she will give some of the money to her family and charitable institutions, and also use it for business. Six other winners of the Dh10,000 prize included Sri Bawon Astro from Indonesia, who said she will use the money to buy a car; and Mohammed Mamun Hashem of Bangladesh, who planned to use the money on his business and family. Roshan Raghuram Shetty from India and Sarfiraz Ali Panhwar of Pakistan said they planned to send their Dh10,000 prize to their families. Two Emiratis also walked away with Dh10,000: Eisa Salem Al Kuwaiti, who said he will use his cash prize to buy a new car, and Ahmed Khamis Al Baloushi, who plans to use the money to fund his business.

New millionaire

Meanwhile, grand prize winner Mohsin said he will be sending half of his Dh1 million prize to his wife in Bangladesh. The couple are expecting their first baby in September.
