Malaysian student Christine Jiaxin Lee reportedly used the unlimited overdraft on her savings account to go on a shopping spree, spending much of it on designer handbags and renting a luxury apartment. “That’s a lot of handbags,” magistrate Lisa Stapleton said on Thursday, according to Sydney’s Daily Telegraph. Stapleton questioned whether the cash could be considered a “proceed of crime”, saying “it’s money we all dream about”. Police arrested Lee as she was trying to board a flight to Malaysia on Wednesday night.
