What Bea Alonzo really thinks about cheating boyfriends and second chances

  MANILA – She hasn’t officially commented on Gerald Anderson’s alleged infidelity, but actress Bea Alonzo has given fans an insight about her views on cheating and second chances in previous TV interviews. Alonzo is currently embroiled in controversy on her apparent falling out with Anderson, who is allegedly cheating on her with actress and Between Maybes co-star Julia Baretto. The issue came to light after a fan posted on Instagram a photo of Anderson and Barretto outside a bar in Bonifacio Global City. The fan said that the two went into the same car together. On July 21, Alonzo posted a cryptic message on Instagram that said: “You can’t make the same mistake twice, the second time you make it, it’s not a mistake anymore, it’s a choice. Enough!” She and Anderson dated in 2016 after her breakup with Zanzoe Marudo. That same year, Alonzo and Anderson co-starred in the movie How to Be Yours. While none of the stars have commented on the issue, we trawled through Alonzo’s previous interviews to find out her stand on relationships. Here’s what we found:

On cheaters

On a 2015 guesting on Gandang Gabi Vice (GGV) for the movie The Love Affair, show host Vice Ganda asks Alonzo on how she deals with a cheating partner “Wala pang nangyari sa akin, believe it or not. Siguro hintayin kong malaman, or baka siguro tatanuningin ko sya straight. Tapos kapag nakarating sa aking yung inpormasyon tapos nalaman ko na nagsinungaling sya sa akin (That hasn’t happened to me yet, believe it or not. Perhaps I will wait until I know or I might ask him straightaway. If news has reached me and I learned that he lied..),” Alonzo said, shaking her head and clucking her tongue.

On second chances

In another interview on GGV, Alonzo said she is willing to give second chances. “Everybody deserves a second chance. Depende naman yan sa learning ninyo. Sometimes napuputol ang love na ‘yon, di natin alam for a reason. Maybe for you to learn a lot of different things in life na di kayo magkasama. To grow apart. But then pag nagkita kayo ulit, may spark, pwede pa pala (Everybody deserves a second chance. It depends on what you to have learned. Sometimes love ends for a reason, maybe for you to learn a lot of things in life while you are apart. And when you get back together and there is still a spark, then you realize it’s still possible),” she said.

On letting go

In that same interview, Alonzo said she will not hold on to someone who doesn’t love her anymore. “Yun ang pinaka selfish thing to do. Not letting go of somebody na hindi na masaya sa piling mo. I think it’s a greater representation of love if you choose to let go of somebody na sobrang mahal na mahal mo pa. Mas selfless love yun (That’s the most selfish thing to do, not letting go of somebody who is no longer happy with you. I think it’s a greater representation of love if you choose to let go of somebody that you love so much. That is selfless love),” she said.
