Emma Watson is best actor; Netflix's 'Stranger Things' is best TV show

  LOS ANGELES – Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" picked two golden popcorn trophies at the MTV Movie and TV Awards ceremonies held at the Shrine Auditorium yesterday. The live-action remake of the beloved animated feature picked up the Best Picture award and Emma Watson, who played Belle, was best actor. Netflix's "Stranger Things" was TV show of the year. Yesterday's MTV Awards was expanded this year to include both big and small projects and renamed by organizers as the MTV Movie and TV Awards. Gender-neutral categories were also introduced this year. In her acceptance speech, Watson said she believes she was given the award "because of who Belle is and what she represents." "The villagers in our fairytale wanted to make Belle believe the world was smaller than the way she saw it, with fewer opportunities for her. I love playing someone who didn't listen to any of that," she also said. Watson thanked MTV for introducing genderless categories thus the best actor award given to her had more meaning.
