Dubai beggar found with Dh300,000 in fake limb
Dubai police have arrested a beggar who was found to have hidden Dh300,000 in his artificial limb, a Dubai Police official said on Thursday (March 16). The arrest was made recently, said Colonel Ali Al Shamsi, director of the Anti-Infiltrators Department. Al Shamsi said beggars use deceptive methods to get people's sympathy, and that they usually strike as Ramadan draws near. He urged the public to only deal with approved charities. Begging is considered a crime in the UAE and the police have repeatedly urged the pubic to report mendicants through the Dubai Police app, or through the hotline 901.
