Indian who won Dh25 million in Big Ticket Abu Dhabi thought it was a joke

DUBAI – An Indian expatriate in Abu Dhabi who won the Dh25 million jackpot in Big Ticket thought it was a joke when he received the call informing him about his big win. “I was at home when I received the call. At first, I thought it was a joke,” said Big Ticket winner Haridasan Moothattil on Tuesday (January 4), a day after winning the raffle draw. Moothattil said he bought the ticket with the help of 15 friends, some of whom were watching the live draw on Monday. “One of them later called me and informed me that we were all millionaires. It was such an amazing feeling,” he shared. The Dh25 million jackpot is the biggest grand prize given by Big Ticket, the UAE’s oldest and longest running raffle draw of its kind. Moothattil, who works at a fire emergency services company, said the bought the ticket at Abu Dhabi International Airport. “I’ve been in the UAE since 2008 and cannot even remember the time I started purchasing Big Tickets. I’ve purchased tickets every month,” he said. This January, Big Ticket will be giving away Dh22 million as a grand prize and a second prize of Dh1 million. Weekly winners will also get Dh250,000 each. The next draw will be on February 3. ICA/Expat Media
