Big Ticket Abu Dhabi: Syrian takes Dh12 million but big win for Filipinos

DUBAI – The Big Ticket grand prize of Dh12 million for February went to a Syrian dentist in Al Ain, but more Filipinos walked away with prizes. “It’s been a great Philippine night,” host Richard Isaac told Expatmedia.net after the draw on Monday (February 3). Three Filipinos won cash prizes totaling Dh160,000 in Big Ticket’s The Dream 12 Million series 212. Big Ticket is the UAE’s longest running raffle draw. Donny Peralta Rocafort won the fourth prize of Dh80,000. Rocafort bought his winning ticket 165825 from the store. Another Filipino, Jose Manansala, won the fifth prize of Dh70,000. Manansala bought winning ticket number 291812 online. A Filipino who identified himself only as Arthur won the Dh10,000 special prize for the audience at the Abu Dhabi International Airport. He rushed to the stage “on the last second” before the host ended his 10-second countdown for the winner to claim his prize. Two Filipinos in the audience also won slots as “life savers” tapped to help the host, Richard, pick the winning tickets. The two were each given a gift hamper. Of course, the big winner of the night was Nidal Shanwar, a Syrian dentist who has been living in the UAE for the past six years. Shanwar was apparently with a patient when Big Ticket host Richard called live at the stage to congratulate him for winning. His wife answered the call, but later on passed it on to Shanwar. Shanwar said he has been buying Big Ticket for seven months, and that it was his wife who urged him to buy the winning ticket 216317. ICA/Expat Media
