Black points erased for 883,000 motorists in Abu Dhabi   ABU DHABI – Hundreds of thousands of motorists who committed minor traffic offences in Abu Dhabi had their black points erased, according to the Abu Dhabi Police. The Abu Dhabi Police said late on Tuesday (July 4) that it cancelled the black points in traffic files of 883,000 motorists as part of the police’s initiative for Year of Giving. The police earlier announced that it would cancel black points given to motorists who committed minor traffic violations before July 1. Major Suhail Al Qubaisi, Head of Traffic Fines and Vehicle Impoundment Section at Abu Dhabi Police, hoped that the new initiative would motivate motorists to complying with traffic laws. Al Qubaisi said that motorists who committed major violations will not have their black points written off. These violations include driving dangerously, exceeding maximum speed limit, jumping a red signal or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. "The safety of motorists and pedestrians is the top priority for the police," he said.
