Bollywood director fails to get compromise on movie about feuding clans, fears of caste violence aired following release of audio of movie

  BOLLYWOOD - Director Ramgopal Verma released last week an audio of his upcoming Telugu film Vangaveeti even if he failed to reach an agreement with the Vangaveeti and Diveneni families on whose conflict the movie is based on. The release of the audio trigged fears that caste violence may erupt in the region. Verma earlier met with members of the two feuding clans who belong to difference castes to get their cooperation for the movie's release. The Vangaveeti family objected to the movie "because of distorted facts" but the Deveneni clan supported it. The director said after meeting Vangaveeti Ratnakmari and her son Vangaveeti Radha Krishna, issues were not resolves and he will not change anything in the movie. He stressed that the film is not about caste violence as he shrugged off fears of caste violence because of the movie saying such apprehensions are "unfounded." Deveneni "Nehru" Rajasekhar, in support of Verma, said every filmmaker has the right to make any movie he wants. Rajasekhar said he doesn't mind if Verma even portrays him as Mahatma Gandhi or his killer, Nathuram Godse and that no one should have any objections. Verma said while he has made movies on various subjects, he has an emotional connection to the movie because it is based on his experiences in Vijayawada. Verma also said he and producer Dasari Kiran Kumar already promised before the Hyderabad High Court to remove objectionable scenes and a song in the trailer. Vangaveeti Radha earlier complained that Verma "had distorted facts and upoloaded a trailer of the movie on the Internet even without a certification from the Central Board of Film Certification as required by law.
