Filipino ballad Ikaw is bridal march song at Filipino couple’s Dubai wedding

DUBAI – A Filipino couple tied the knot in a Dubai wedding over the weekend that turned heads for featuring Regine Velasquez’s popular love song, Ikaw, as the bridal march song. Expat Media was at the scene in St. Mary’s Church in Dubai on Saturday (September 8). The wedding was attended by family, friends and colleagues of the bride, Erica, and groom, Sherwin. Even Filipinos at the other side of the church beamed with pride when instead of the traditional bridal march music, the bride—in her immaculate beaded white gown and long veil sweeping across the floor—walked down the aisle to Regine’s 1998 hit love song, Ikaw (You), which was beautifully sung by a Filipina expatriate live at the venue. The moving love song certainly amped up emotions at the wedding, with at least one bridesmaid seen wiping away her tears. Fr. Chito Bartolo, who officiated the wedding, wished the couple a beautiful marriage. We at Expat Media HQ certainly second the motion! Speaking to Expatmedia.net, Fr. Bartolo said many Filipinos get married at St. Mary’s Church and that he loves witnessing the weddings where Filipinos are at their happiest.
