A British national based in Hong Kong has struck it rich after winning $1 million in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire promotion, marking a milestone in his 20-year journey as a loyal participant. Ronnie S., a 56-year-old research fellow at a university in Hong Kong, became the latest dollar millionaire in Series 497 of the Millennium Millionaire draw held on Wednesday (April 16) at Concourse C of Dubai International Airport. Ronnie purchased the lucky ticket number 1844 online on March 31 and watched the live draw on Dubai Duty Free’s official Facebook page — a moment he described as “surreal.” “It’s my first time watching the live draw on your Facebook page and it felt surreal to see and hear my name announcing that I’ve won. Thank you so much Dubai Duty Free! I dedicate this win to my darling wife so we can continue a wonderful life together,” he said. Ronnie is now the 17th British national to become a Dubai Duty Free dollar millionaire since the promotion began in 1999. The latest draw was conducted by Dubai Duty Free senior officials. Tickets to the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw costs Dh1,000 each. Only 5,000 tickets are sold for every draw, which takes place every two weeks at the Dubai Duty Free shopping complex.
