Al Suwaidi says disbanded Al Islah group targetted tribal leaders, youths
DUBAI - Eisa Khalifa Al Suwaidi, a former member of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood who is detained in the UAE, revealed that a now disbanded group allied with the brotherhood was formed to destabilize the UAE.
Al Suwaidi made the revelation in a documentary shown by Emirati stations on Friday.
Al Suwaidi described Al Islah as the largest front for the brotherhood in the UAE that sought to recruit tribal leaders, businessmen and the children of senior UAE officials.
He said Al Islah was out to spread its radical ideology through a school "in order to control the minds of the youth and draw them into their terrorist group".
Al Suwaidi identified the educational facility as the Al Jazeera School, which was then owned by Hamad Bin Jasem, former prime minister and foreign minister of Qatar.
Meanwhile, Al Suwaidi revealed in the same documentary his involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood.
He said he joined the Brotherhood in 1989 and rose from the ranks to become a member of the advisory board.
Al Suwaidi also said the Brotherhood was a "highly secretive organization" that had committees in charge of education, media, women's and youth affairs.
He said further that Qatari and Emirati terrorist groups would meet in his Qatar residence to coordinate their terror plots under an umbrella organization called Gulf Coordination.
