A mother in Al Ain has won her case against the guardian of two children who bullied and beat up her son, leaving the boy with physical injuries and emotional trauma. The Al Ain Civil, Commercial, and Administrative Cases Court ordered the defendant to pay Dh30,000 in compensation for the harm caused to the victim, who suffered fear, anxiety, and emotional instability following repeated bullying incidents. According to case records, the complainant filed a lawsuit against the other children’s guardian after her son was attacked both at school and at home — with one of the assaults even filmed and shared. The mother originally sought Dh500,000 in damages, citing the physical, moral, and psychological toll on her son. The bullying reportedly left the boy withdrawn, easily frightened, and prone to mood swings. A medical report confirmed that his injuries prevented him from carrying out his normal activities for about 20 days. The court confirmed that the defendant’s sons were already convicted in a related criminal case, and that their actions clearly caused harm. It said the assault “occurred in public view,” adding to the psychological distress of the young victim. Taking all circumstances into account, the court used its discretion to fix the compensation at Dh30,000, including the defendant’s responsibility for legal fees and expenses. ICA/Expat Media
