The Indian flag is displayed at Burj Khalifa. INDIAN CONSULATE

The Burj Khalifa will once again honour India’s Independence Day with a dazzling display of the tricolour on Friday (August 15). The Indian Consulate in Dubai confirmed that the world’s tallest tower will light up with the Indian flag at 7:50pm as part of the 79th Independence Day celebrations in the UAE. Other landmarks across the country are also expected to join the tribute with special illuminations. Earlier in the day, the Indian diplomatic missions hosted official flag-hoisting ceremonies. At the Indian Consulate in Dubai, Consul General Satish Kumar Sivan led the ceremony at 6:30am, while in Abu Dhabi, Ambassador Sanjay Sudhir raised the flag at 7:15am at the Indian Embassy. Both events featured colourful cultural performances. In Abu Dhabi, the celebrations also included a tribal art exhibition and a special display on India’s counter-terrorism efforts, with particular attention to the recent Pahalgam terror attack. The annual display at the Burj Khalifa has become a moment of pride for the Indian diaspora in the UAE, drawing crowds eager to witness the towering spectacle. ICA/Expat Media
