Burst pipe causes severe flooding on Dubai road

DUBAI – Parts of Ras Al Khor Industrial Areas 2 and 3 were without water supply on Thursday, hours after authorities shut down a main water line following severe flooding on Nad Al Hamar Road. Water flooded the street on Nad Al Hamar Road towards the airport tunnel on Wednesday evening, severely slowing down traffic in the area. Motorists reported being stuck in gridlock for up to 45 minutes on a trip that normally takes five minutes. A customer service representative at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority told Expatmedia.net that the flooding was caused by a broken main water pipeline, but that emergency workers had already cleared the area. He said, however, that water supply to Ras Al Khor Industrial Areas 1 and 2 was affected after the main water pipeline was closed to control floodwaters.
