Emirates ID holders can now renew their ID cards even if they are outside the UAE, according to the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP). The new service is available through the ICP’s smart app. The service also extends to UAE nationals who want to renew their passport while they are outside of the country. Nasser Ahmed Al Abdouli, Director of Customer Happiness Management at ICP, noted that individuals who wish to renew their Emirates ID or passport while outside the country must personally apply for the service through the app. The request must be made individually, and not via typing centres. Al Abdouli explained: "Individuals residing outside the UAE can access the authority's smart application on their mobile phones. They can select the service for renewing ID cards from abroad, submit their application, pay the fees, and complete the transaction seamlessly." The ICP urged applicants to check that they are giving out accurate information on their Emirates ID number, validity and expiration, as well as contact number and email address in the application form.
