Car goes up in flames in Dubai Al Khail Gate

  DUBAI - A Filipino expatriate living in Dubai's Al Khail Gate community luckily escaped death after his car caught fire on Monday. The expat, whose identity was not revealed, said he had been away for only less than 20 minutes after parking his car when the fire broke out. He had gone out to buy something, he said, and was shocked to come back and find his car in flames. The Kia Carnival car was parked outside a building in Dubai's Al Khail Gate community, adjacent to the building where the car owner lived, when the engine caught fire at around 9:45am. However, disaster was averted after the community's security team quickly sprang into action to douse the flames before it could spread to nearby vehicles. It reportedly took the team 15 fire extinguishers to put out the fire before the Dubai Civil Defence team arrived. No one was reported hurt or injured in the incident.
