Cebu lays out tour plan for Miss Universe

  CEBU CITY – The Department of Tourism in Central Visayas (DOT-7) is happy after Cebu was named as among the six places being considered to stage Miss Universe events outside Metro Manila. Rowena Montecillo, regional director of DOT-7, said this is the second time, if ever Cebu is chosen, for the province to be host to some delegates who will come and visit here. The first, she said, was in 1994. Montecillo said Cebu has a lot of tourist spots to offer, including white sand beaches, historical sites and eco-adventure sites. Montecillo said she would recommend for candidates to visit the islands of Bantayan and Camotes in the north as these offer beautiful white sand beaches. But all this will have to wait since she said they are still awaiting word from their Central office. Montecillo said that should the province be chosen, DOT-7 has a list ready for organizers. She added that they would also consult local government units on what sites they wish to promote in their own locality. "Anything that will help us boost our tourism is welcome," she said.
