The three children of an Indian couple who died in a car accident in Abu Dhabi's Al Dhannah city are recovering in hospital, even as their parents’ bodies were handed to relatives on Saturday (August 9) for repatriation to India. Syed Waheed, a cybersecurity professional in the UAE since 2018, and his wife, Sana Beeghum, were killed when their car crashed in the early hours of Thursday (August 7) as they drove from Abu Dhabi. Police have yet to release details on the cause of the accident. Their children, aged between four months and 11 years, are being treated in a private hospital, with at least one still in serious condition. Close relatives are caring for them while they recover. The couple’s bodies will be flown back to their hometown in Telangana for funeral rites. Condolences have been pouring in on social media from relatives, friends, and the Hyderabad expatriate community. “We heard from some of the relatives that one of the children keeps asking for their mother,” a social worker helping the family told media. “It is truly a tragic situation.” ICA/Expat Media
