Multi-car crash kills 19 at China funeral procession

A multi-vehicle crash killed 19 people and injured 20 others in China on Sunday (January 8) as the annual Lunar New Year holiday travel rush got underway. The traffic accident in Nanchang County in China’s Jiangxi Province also left 20 others injured. The cause is under investigation, authorities said. Heavy fog was reported at the time of the accident just after midnight on Sunday, according to Jimu news outlet. According to Jimu, the incident took place when a truck hit a funeral procession on the road, and that most of the dead and injured were funeral attendees from Taoling village. A witness said that the truck crashed into the back of the funeral procession and ploughed through the group before crashing into the hearse. ICA/Expat Media
