A poignant night of music and poetry awaits audiences in Dubai as Choir Connect 2025 launches with the premiere of “Words Meet Harmonies” on July 5 at The Fridge in Alserkal Avenue. Presented as a choral and spoken word concert, “Words Meet Harmonies” explores the emotional journey of leaving home and building a life in a new land—an experience familiar to many of Dubai’s expatriates. “Every expat in Dubai has a story about leaving home to build something new,” Creative Director Fermel Fuentes told Expat Media. “Words Meet Harmonies turns those stories into music and poetry that will speak directly to your heart.” As part of the UAE's Year of Community, the concert aims to celebrate diversity and shared experiences through a rich program featuring music from the Philippines, the Arab world, and France. Each choir brings a unique cultural voice, led by passionate directors: Yuliana Kireyeva for Angels Singing Choir, and Arne Lubasan for the Choir Connect Ensemble. Acclaimed spoken word poet Danabelle Gutierrez will deliver emotionally resonant poetry about memory, longing, and finding belonging in unfamiliar places.
