Majority of motorists fined in Abu Dhabi for this mistake

  ABU DHABI – Since the new federal traffic law was implemented in July 1, a total of 7,592 traffic fines have been issued in Abu Dhabi, police said. What was the most common mistake that motorists made? Not following seatbelt rules, according to Abu Dhabi Police. There were 2,394 motorists fined for not wearing seatbelts and for having passengers who did not wear seatbelts. The World Health Organisation has said that wearing seatbelts lowers the risk of death in case of accidents for drivers and front seat passengers by up to 50 percent and by up to 75 percent for rear seat passengers. In the UAE, not wearing a seatbelt will attract a fine of Dh400 and four black points. The new traffic law also requires child safety seats for children less than four years old. DAJ/Expat Media
