Philippine consulate in Dubai reaches out to Filipinos in Dubai company

  DUBAI – After launching an interactive facility for Filipinos in the UAE to raise issues to the Philippine consulate in Dubai earlier this month, Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes on Monday (September 19) intensified the mission’s efforts to reach out to Filipinos in Dubai and the Northern Emirates with a visit to companies employing Filipinos. Cortes met with Danube Group’s Filipino employees who raised questions, mostly on the passport renewal process, authentication of services and the Overseas Employment Certificate. He briefed the group about consular services, procedures, policies, and regulations and provided contact information to those who need clarification on certain consular issues and concerns. Cortes also reminded Filipinos to be mindful of UAE rules and laws. He said that the consulate is running a “vigorous campaign” to inform the Filipino community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates of the consulate’s services and policies, particularly what issues the consulate could help resolve and what its limits are. Cortes’ trip followed a similar visit to employees of LBC, a Philippine company involved in cargo and freight forwarding. More visits to Dubai companies with a sizeable Filipino employee base are being worked out, Cortes said, as the consulate campaigns for a wider reach to its constituency. On September 8, the Consulate General launched the Kabayan Corner—an interactive facility that allows Filipinos without email or internet facilities to access tips about the UAE law as well as raise issues and concerns with the consul general.
